Alpine Restaurant Stratford

“The winter Olympics may be about to begin over in Beijing, but here winter just met the Olympics over in Stratford with the opening of brand new alpine restaurant, Haugen.

The East London Bauhaus-inspired structure rises above Endeavour Square and serves Mountain Fondue, which comes with sourdough, new potatoes and pickles and Tartiflette with reblochon, bacon and potato.

If that’s not enough cheese for one sitting (hint: it probably is), why not order some Raclette, or hit the sausage, as it were, with Vienna Schnitzel served with warm potato salad and lingonberries?

For apres ski head upstairs to the rooftop bar and take in the Olympic Park, and raise a glass to the original Haugen, an unsung hero of the first Olympics in 1924.”
